By now you should have heard the Scion AV Presents: The Powers Pleasant Experience EP, our free streaming and downloadable collaboration with the Pro Era producer and DJ that came out at the start of the summer.
If you don’t know, Powers Pleasant is one of the founding members of the upstart Brooklyn crew, along with flagship MC Joey Bada$$ and dearly departed rapper Capital Steez. It was Powers and Steez who formulated the idea of putting together the group during a bus ride back from a gig in Clinton Hill. Until now, Powers has played more of a background role in the growth of Pro Era-led youth movement that has spread from New York to the rest of the planet.
Along with serving as the tour DJ for the squad, Powers has produced select cuts for them, including “Butterflies,” the nearly 11-minute posse cut that closed out Scion AV Presents: The Shift, the EP from Pro Era that we put out last year.
He’s also a piano player and drummer. Just barely in his twenties—and having started touring the world when he was just out of high school—Powers has had a key role in finding new talent for Pro Era and overseeing the projects of its members. Check his bio on Pro Era’s website, and it simply says, “Visionary!”
